The modern concepts and practices will be lectured at HCI by the guidance of Lincoln University at your preference.

Application of Microbiology and Biotechnology is integrated within different fields of life sciences. Embarking on studying a degree in Microbiology and biotechnology will equip you to gain knowledge in various fields including; product and process-oriented research & development for applications in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

Our teaching labs have state-of-art equipment and facilities for practical, hands on training and each lecture underpins many exciting areas as skills in food, environmental and medical microbiology and biotechnology, in addition to a broad understanding of the biological sciences including molecular biology, immunology biochemistry, statistics and bioinformatics.

You will develop a sound scientific knowledge together with advanced practical skills which will benefit you to develop employability skills suited and required to cater for a wide range of occupations, including those requiring specialized knowledge in Microbiology and Biotechnology.

Program aim

As well as developing an understanding of the scientific investigation of human health and disease, you will gain more specific knowledge of disease processes from the study of clinical laboratory specialties, such as cellular pathology, clinical biochemistry, immunology, genetics and medical microbiology.

You’ll have the flexibility to study different areas of biology and tailor the course to your own interests. You’ll also benefit from studying in the heart of Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside which is rich in biodiversity. The applied nature of this course encourages the development of skills that make you more employable including problem solving, research, team working, communication and IT.
As well as specialist analytical and numerical skills, you will be able to collect biological data and communicate scientific information.

ADVANCED ENTRY

Graduates who have successfully completed a 3-year general degree in Microbiology or Biotechnology or biological science related disciplines now have the opportunity to complete the Hons. Year offered by Edinburgh Napier a Prestigious University in UK to be completed in Sri Lanka in collaboration with Spectrum Institute of Science & Technology.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADVANCED ENTRY

A 3-year Bachelors of Science Degree awarded by a university and approved by the university grants commission in Sri Lanka, subjected to be approved by the Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland, United Kingdom.
